History

Pavlov Media began as a small operation—really small.  Think a few young college engineering students in the early 1990’s with a pretty good understanding of data who thought they would wire some University of Illinois houses for data access—before most people had heard of data access.

Mark Scifres was one of those young students.  In 1992, Mark formally started the company in Champaign, Illinois by providing high-speed Internet access for off-campus University of Illinois students.  He crawled through attics to wire houses, apartments, dorms and Greek houses.  It worked and the business was up and running.

1996, the small company had grown and decided to form as DMISI (Distributed Management Information Systems) to focus on the MDU (multi-family dwelling unit) market.

In 1999, the company moved to new offices in Savoy, Illinois, about one mile from the University of Illinois campus.  In 2000, the company expanded and began, for the first time, offering Internet services outside the state.  The following year the organization began offering video services—competition for the cable companies!  It was well received.
2002 was landmark as the company continued to hone its technology and filed for patents on newly-developed technology.

In 2003, DMISI launched a Property Manager portal feature—unheard of at the time.
2004 was an active year.  The company began providing telephone services, expanded its video offerings to provide hundreds of channels via QAM technology, launched anti-virus protection with newly-developed technology and re-named the firm “Fusion Broadband” after a merger with a large competitor.

Then, in 2005, the firm was issued its first patent and that was followed quickly by a move into the former Robeson Department store building in downtown Champaign.  In addition, the first fiber optic backbone was launched for video services.  Then Pavlov Media launched a video analysis server to pro-actively monitor a property’s video experience anywhere in the world.

2006 was busy yet again.  The company had fun re-branding itself as Pavlov Media.  The call center was switched to 24/7 support.  Pavlov Media built its first MAN (municipal active network) in Champaign, launched a self-developed Internet Management technology and launched wireless support for multi-family communities.
2007 saw Pavlov Media leverage our new Internet Management Technology to create an unparalleled user experience for the MDU market.

And in 2011, Pavlov Media launched a new MyProperties property manager’s solution tool, began providing a great IP Security camera setup and launched a Pavlov Media-designed Infrared Remote Kontrol device to allow remote video switching in video headend units.
